Date Ideas in Denver for $25 or Less: Winter Edition

These days, it’s cuffing season. It’s also near the holidays and money might be tight. Whether you’re in a relationship or in search of a partner to cozy up with, you can use financial finesse and still impress. Just choose one of these date ideas in Denver for $25 or less. I know I know, $25 for 2 feels impossible right now, but gas prices are going down and I did show you Fun Denver Date Ideas for $25 (or less): Fall Edition. So you can trust me. Get ready to pitch these incredible date ideas in Denver to your soul mates, friends with benefits, and strangers you meet on Hinge while keeping money in your pocket.

1. Free Holiday Events:

  • There are so many ways to experience the magic of the holidays in Denver, so why not do it with someone special? Apart from being Instagram-worthy and a way to celebrate, these free holiday events make for perfect romantic date ideas in Denver. This year we roasted s’mores & browsed the German-inspired Christkindle Market then headed next door to the Mile High Tree for a holiday light show to classic Christmas hits. Many of these holiday events are open through the end of the month and even throughout January!

2. Get Outdoors:

  • If you’re an adventurous pair, you can hike, sled, and/or snowshoe to continue enjoying the outdoors even with the cold and snow. These adventures cost next to nothing and offer intimate quality time while enjoying neature. Maybe you opt for a winter-accessible easy-moderate hike less than an hour from the city? If you’re up for a bit more of a challenge then you can rent some snowshoes or cross-country skis and hit the trails that way. Finally, you’re never too old to buy a crappy sled from Target and go sledding.

3. Take a Brewery Tour:

  • A brewery tour makes for the perfect winter date idea in Denver as you can soften the awkward tension and bitter cold with cozy brews while also learning about the fermentation process. Okay, so maybe I’m not selling it, but it’s always nice to have some form of entertainment. Plus, you can still have enough $$ left over to grab your favorite brew after the tour. With my recs, tour prices range from $0-$3.

4. Enjoy a Discount Movie at a Historic Landmark Theater:

  • Making a comeback from my Date Nights for $25 or Less: Fall Edition, a classic movie date still tracks for the winter. I recommend Landmark because the historic buildings and smaller theaters provide a more romantic and intimate setting that takes you back in time. Each of the 4 theatres in Denver offers $7 movie tickets on Tuesdays. Also, buy a large popcorn or drink and get free refills!
  • The Theaters:
    • The Chez Artiste (University Hills)
    • Esquire Theatre (Capitol Hill)
    • Mayan Theatre (South Broadway)
    • Landmark Theatre (Greenwood Village)

5. Cozy Happy Hour:

  • Another classic date idea. Drinks please, and good ones. There’s nothing quite like finding a comfy spot to sip a seasonal craft cocktail at a happy hour price while the snow falls gently outside. Maybe this looks like an elevated speakeasy or maybe a cafe turned nighttime bar? Whatever your vibe, a date night idea like this is sure to impress.

6. Coffee Date & Browsing:

  • There’s something nostalgic about drinking a hot cup of joe on a cold winter morning. I encourage you to share that nostalgic feeling and childhood memories with a date while you cozy up in one of Denver’s finest coffee shops. Then take to the streets for some local “shopping”… mostly browsing.

7. Go out for a Game Night:

  • If you’re up for a little friendly competition, games can be a great way to break the ice. From pinball to giant Jenga, shuffleboard, and skeeball, Denver has no shortage of gaming spots to show up your better half. Games can cost anywhere from $0 to $15 and many of my recs offer happy hour pricing.

8. Scenic Drives:

  • Believe it or not, there are many scenic drives throughout CO that are maintained year-round. With that being said, you should always be sure to check road conditions before heading out there as they can close. This one is a bit more of a commitment, but hey you’re in the throws of love. So, set your favorite jams, pack your favorite snacks, and get ready to enjoy the gorgeous, snowy mountain peaks from the comfort of your cozy car with the one you love.

9. Stay In:

Sure these all sound like a hoot. But what about staying in and making a night of it? No, I don’t mean that you should passively sit there and watch another mediocre Netflix original doc about scammers on a Friday night. I mean that if you stay in you should try and do at least 1 activity that forces you to interact with one another. Once we filled a jar with small pieces of paper. Each with an idea for an activity that we could do at home. Every once in a while we will use that jar to have an impromptu date night. A bottle of wine or some hot cocoa pairs well with all of these ideas.

  • My Recs:
    • Do a puzzle
    • Play a board game or cards
    • Grab a meal kit from the grocery store and make it together (usually $15-$20)
    • Bake some decadent desserts (make it a competition inspired by the Great British Baking Show)
    • Write down your New Years Resolutions & store them for next year
    • Make your own sip and paint. (Paint by numbers + a cheap bottle of wine)
