Cozy Denver Happy Hour to Escape the Cold

These days, patio season is coming to an end. This means that Denverites are now in search of the best Denver happy hour to keep ‘em warm & cozy. Whether that means finding delicious seasonal cocktails or just a dimly lit space with some comfy couches, I searched the city (and included some classic faves) to help satisfy this craving. So, get ready to kick back, warm up, and sip some budget-friendly beverages at a Denver happy hour as the cold weather rolls in.

1. Hudson Hill

  • Happy Hour:
    • 4-7 pm Monday-Saturday
    • $8 daily feature cocktail, $8 classic cocktails, $6 well drinks, $6 select glasses of wine, and $4 select beers.
    • What to Order?: Daily Feature, Bees Knees

Located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, Hudson Hill serves up lattes daily and cocktails at night. With cozy leather couches, plenty of plants, and an expansive seasonal cocktail menu, Hudson Hill provides guests with an inviting oasis from the cold. They also serve up some snacks, cheese, and pastries to pair with your beverage. It’s the perfect fit for solo sippers, intimate date nights, and groups of friends alike. So, get yourself to Hudson Hill for some happy hour deals and a fresh take on seasonal drinks.

2. Lady Jane

  • Happy Hour:
    • 4-6 pm Tuesday-Friday
    • $8 select cocktails, $7 select glass of wine, and $5 draft beer
    • What to Order?: Oopsie Baby

This is the more elegant sister bar to the aforementioned, hipster Hudson Hill. Lady Jane rests in the lively LoHi neighborhood. Again, you’ll find a cocktail menu curated for the season with friendly staff, and a record player circulating jams from artists like Lana Del Rey. Lady Jane also offers small bites like meat & cheese boards. Head to Lady Jane and warm up on their green velvet couches with the perfect mood lighting and your favorite cold-weather cocktail.

3. Room For Milly

  • Happy Hour:
    • Monday-Saturday 4-6 pm
    • $8 select cocktails, $7 select glasses of wine, $18 table beer (low ABV, large bottle), and $10 weekly tiki (description below)
    • What to order?: Weekly Tiki

This Denver happy hour list wouldn’t be complete without the comfortable offerings of a quirky speakeasy bar like Room for Milly. Room for Milly is located just around the corner from the Highlands neighborhood on Platte St. With modern and sophisticated decor, you’ll feel fancy without breaking the bank on a carefully crafted cocktail. Every week, Room for Milly partners with a socially or environmentally focused non-profit to create a “Weekly Tiki” for their happy hour. $1 from every sale of the Weekly Tiki goes to these organizations! My Weekly Tiki featured coffee liquor 😋. Now: sip pretty, feel fancy, and give back at Room for Milly.

4. The Molecule Effect (Wash Park)

  • Happy Hour
    • 5-7 pm, Every day
    • 20% off all beer, wine, AND cocktails
    • What to order: A seasonal cocktail (description below)

The Molecule Effect is another part-coffee-part-bar situation that I love. There are two locations. One in the Santa Fe Arts District and another in Washington Park. I prefer the Wash Park location because it is much larger and has more of a nightlife vibe. With their amazing happy hour, Molecule Effect often has additional drink specials like BOGO espresso martinis. Be sure to ask one of the friendly bartenders! Finally, don’t miss out on their crowd-pleasing seasonal cocktails like a “Pumpkin White Russian” and “Apple Cranberry Mule” featured this October. Get to this Denver happy hour as the temperature drops to enjoy laid-back, funky, money-saving vibes.

5. Dew Drop Inn

  • Happy Hour
    • 3-6 pm & 10 pm-close, Every day (*except Friday*)
    • $8 Neighborhood cocktails, $6 Upslope Seltzers, $6 house wines, $5 call drinks (Arette tequila, Diamond Rum, Jim Beam, Svedka vodka, Spring 44 gin)
    • What to Order: Aspen Spice

Rounding out the list is the Dew Drop Inn. Located in the hip Uptown neighborhood, the Dew Drop Inn is known for its fancy outer perception with a classic dive bar attitude. The staff and patrons take pride in this paradox while boasting their $8 shot and a beer deal that runs all day, every day. Not to mention, they have a massive list of over 20 classic cocktails and special “neighborhood cocktails” to choose from. The food reflects the more elevated perception of the bar with menu items like their “Big Bowl of Mussels 16” (a full pound of mussels) and Karaagee Chicken Plate. Now, be sure to grab a bite while you warm your belly with some delicious happy hour deals at the Dew Drop Inn.

It’s no secret that money plays an important role in our ability to experience the city. Not to mention, with the holidays around the corner I’m starting to feel the budget squeeze. Before we know it, we’ll be buying plane tickets, too many gifts, and probably investing in some much-needed self-care. Anyway, I hope this list shows you that having a comfortable, yet elevated night out on a budget isn’t impossible in the city of Denver. Now throw on that new Shein sweater that you’ve been dying to wear & head to a warm and cozy Denver happy hour for that perfect seasonal drink. Cheers!
